The long-awaited report from the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission was released last week and has already caused a lot of reactions both within and outside the military community. The report is available at the link below. The 15 recommendations made in the report were based on observations and interviews with military members. In 2014, MSAN and Esposas Militares Hispanas USA Armed Forces collected responses and provided feedback regarding the Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance (FSSA) program, and our findings were included in this report. Recommendations include changing the current pension system and Thrift Savings Plan, changes to the GI Bill requirements and management, elimination of Tricare, and joint Commissary-Exchanges operations. How do you feel about the proposed changes? What impact do you feel they will have on military families, their finances, and long term career commitments?
